McCauley Named Student Of The Month

McCauley Donna was named BHS student of the month for February.  McCauley is a hard worker and terrific to have in class.  As English teacher Bob Cloutier said "McCauley Donna has great potential to be a high academic achiever, push him and he will respond."  Donna is not your typical high school student in Maine because he has a love for bowling.  McCauley has bowled a perfect score of 300 three times in his life.  He is the 2010 state champion for his age group in which he bowled a 300 in the final round of the competition.  McCauley will be attending Webber International College in Florida which is the largest bowling training center in the United States.  There are eleven gold bowling coaches in the world and three of them work at this training center.  Bowling is McCauley's spark that gives him life, energy and purpose.  Congratulations McCauley.

College Dual Enrollment Coming To BHS

Bucksport High School has solidified an agreement with Eastern Maine Community College to receive college credit while taking math classes at BHS.  Students who take and pass Honors Algebra II, AP Statistics and AP Calculus will receive credits from Eastern Maine Community College and Bucksport High School.  Math teacher Mike Cowing is teaching all three courses.  The agreement will start the 2012-2013 school year and will be open to any students that want to take these classes.  We are very excited to have this agreement in place and know students will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.  Students will be able to graduate from BHS with ten credits towards EMCC if they take all three math classes.

Shelby Redman Named Student Of The Month

Shelby Redman has been named Student Of The Month for the month of December at Bucksport High School.  Shelby has earned a 97.0 grade point average and is ranked eighth in her class.  Shelby is captain and participates in soccer, basketball and softball.  She was the starting shortstop on the 2011 Eastern Maine Champion softball team.  Math teacher Josh Tripp comments "Shelby is a dedicated student and citizen of the high school.  Between sports and academics Shelby has a very busy schedule and is still very successful.  She is a leader and very well respected by her peers and her teachers.  I feel she is very deserving of this award."  Shelby plans to study Physical Therapy and has narrowed her college choices to Universiy of Vermont, University of New England, Springfield College, Northeastern University or Husson University.
